IKAR LOCAL ACTION: FIGHTING HUNGER IN LOS ANGELES

Since IKAR began, we've been committed working both locally and globally to repair the world. IKAR has partnered with PATH, People Assisting the Homeless, a nonprofit organization that seeks to break the cycle of homelessness by empowering homeless people with the tools for self-sufficiency. PATH, People Assisting The Homeless PATH works towards this goal by providing services that help homeless people find work, save money, secure housing, and empower their lives.

We are increasing our commitment to 2 days a month, so join IKAR on the 3rd Thursday and 4th Monday of every month at PATH. We need your help to keep this promise. We hope that every person in our community takes that charge seriously, and makes a commitment to volunteering with PATH as frequently as possible.

You can participate by doing one (or more) of the following:

  • Cook food and bring it to PATH on a designated day by 5:45 PM. Food needs to be there and be ready to eat (i.e. not frozen) before dinner is served at 6:00pm.
  • Buy food and bring it to PATH on a designated Thursday (prepared food or take-out).
  • Come to PATH on a designated day to set up dinner, to serve, and to talk with the residents. This time commitment, perhaps the most rewarding aspect of our relationship with PATH, can be as little as half an hour.
For each date we need:
  • Five volunteers to bring one main dish each
  • Two volunteers to bring one side dish each
  • And one volunteer each a Salad, a Fruit dish, and Dessert

PATH is located at 2346 Cotner Ave. in West LA near Pico and Sepulveda.

Central to the mission of our community is that our davening and learning inspires us to work toward real change in the world. We hope that every person in our community takes that charge seriously, and makes a commitment to volunteering with PATH as frequently as possible.
